Dr. Matthews has spent the last 25 years tending to small ruminants and Camelids, including Routine health, reproduction, nutrition, behavior, parasite management, obstetrics, surgery, Herd health protocol, and medicine related services.

We boast a staff that offers experience and a level of care and attentiveness that is paramount. Our hospital offers state of the art in-house bloodwork, and we are x-ray and ultrasound equipped.

Dr. Matthews
Donna Matthews, DVM
Dr. Donna Matthews received her B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Maryland in 1974. Upon graduation, she relocated to Virginia to be employed at a contract facility located in Luray, which provided sheep to the National Institutes of Health. Since then, Luray has been her home. During the last 25 years of traveling throughout the valley, tending to small ruminants and camelids.
Dr. Burke
Nathaniel Burke, MS, DVM
A Page County native, Dr. Burke is the son of Carla and Jimmy Burke of Luray, VA. He graduated from Page County High School in 2001, before moving to Blacksburg, VA, where he became a life-long Hokie, earning his BS, MS, and DVM degrees from Virginia Tech. His Master's thesis at Virginia Tech focused on pasture-based beef cattle production, and his track of study in the College of Veterinary Medicine focused on food animal production medicine, where he graduated with honors, as the valedictorian of the class of 2011.
Dr. Lucas
Aaron Lucas, DVM, PhD
Dr. Lucas completed his undergraduate degree in biology at Virginia Tech in 2004. Following graduation, he enrolled in the joint DVM/PhD program at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Lucas completed the required coursework earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2010 as valedictorian. During this time he also conducted research focused on cattle parasites to earn his PhD in Clinical Parasitology in 2011.
